Why do I need a mold inspection?

A professional inspection is superior to self-inspection because we are trained professionals who know where to look for mold and how to handle it when we find it.

We are also licensed bonded and insured against accidents and property damage. Plus, some homeowners don’t think about all that is required for performing a thorough mold inspection; it often involves climbing on ladders, crawling into attics or underneath the home, etc. … lots of potentially dangerous, hazardous or simply uncomfortable positions to be in.

Plus…

  • It is important to find ALL the mold
  • Identify possibly toxic mold
  • Perform a damage assessment

Unless you are a licensed contractor it is unlikely you will be able to identify ALL the architectural or structural damage caused by your mold problem.

Do I need Mold removal or mold remediation?

Mold removal typically refers to simple clean up. That is to say, the mold is mostly superficial and can be cleaned up without any physical restoration to the structure of the building or special processes to prevent a resurgence of the mold bloom.

If the mold damage goes beyond the surface, penetrating into the structure, or if there is an environmental factor that is likely to lead to a resurgence – such as consistent leaks, flooding or unventilated areas – then remediation is more likely indicated because it will address the cause of the mold as well as the removal.

At we Kauai Mold Removal, we will explain the extent of your particular mold problem, what’s causing it and what will be required to fix up-front. We will guide you through the process from start to finish, making sure you are well-informed and comfortable throughout the process.

How long does it take for mold to start growing in my home?

Mold blooms can start to develop within 24-48 hours of a flood or water damage incident. A flood or water damage situation is not necessary for mold to grow, of course; all it takes is a consistently moist environment for an outbreak to occur. Ambient conditions such as heat and humidity as well as ventilation will affect the rate of mold growth.

If it is growing indoors, good ventilation and/or use of your HVAC system can help, but if a mold bloom has already started, whether you can actually see it or just smell that trademark “musty” scent – it’s time to call the professionals!

What are the health effects of mold exposure?

Prolonged exposure to toxic mold is a serious health hazard and causes complications in already health-compromised individuals, as well as in otherwise healthy people. If left un-treated it can even cause death!

Most people who experience mold related health problems or cite mold as the culprit in a lawsuit develop less extreme but still serious health effects, such as:

  • Asthma complications
  • Adult onset Asthma
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chronic Allergies
  • Chronic Cough
  • Chronic Sneezing
  • Unexplained Skin Irritation or Rashes
  • Upper respiratory illness / complications
  • Acute idiopathic pulmonary hemorrhage in infants
  • Memory Loss
  • Lethargy
